Anthropic's Sonnet 5.5 nears Opus 5.5 at half the price

Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, keeping Sonnet 5's $2/$10 per-million-token pricing, half what Opus 5.5 costs. The company says it runs over 30% faster and can cut per-task costs by up to 30%, while landing within a few points of Opus on most published benchmarks. Independent tests from Artificial Analysis found it can cost more than its predecessor at maximum effort.
