The Daily Screener ("we", "us") builds a screened news experience that filters the day's events down to what matters to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose — the same way we keep your feed short.
01Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the app:
- Account details — your name and email, so you can sign in and sync across devices.
- Your topics & preferences — the subjects you follow and how you tune them, so we can screen your feed.
- Usage & device data — what you read, app version, and device type, used to improve screening and fix issues.
02How we use your information
We use the information above to deliver and personalize your feed, send the alerts you opt into, keep your account secure, and improve how we screen stories. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
03What we don't do
We don't sell your personal information. We don't share it with third parties for their own marketing. There is no infinite-scroll engine quietly optimizing for your attention — the product is designed to end.
04Notifications
Alerts are opt-in. When you enable them, we send a notification only when something genuinely moves in a topic you follow. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings or in the app.
05News sources & links
The app surfaces headlines and summaries and links out to original publishers. When you open an article, the publisher's own privacy practices apply. We are not responsible for the content or policies of third-party sites.
06Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
07Your rights & choices
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data from within the app, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor verified requests regardless of location.
08Children
The Daily Screener is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
09Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
