Brent crude rose more than 2% to trade above $100 a barrel on September 9, its highest level since July 24, when the current round of Middle East escalation began. The move followed US strikes that destroyed five Iranian crude tankers and Houthi attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure, which raised concerns about supply through the Gulf. West Texas Intermediate climbed toward $95.
