Brent nears $90 as shipping attacks dent hopes of a Strait of Hormuz reopening

Brent crude climbed about 2% overnight to roughly $89.50 a barrel on 12 August, as attacks on commercial shipping and stalled US-Iran talks dimmed hopes of reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway has been disrupted since late February, with daily transits down from around 130 vessels to about 10. Brent is up roughly 24% since the conflict began.
