Meta names CRED founder Kunal Shah global head of WhatsApp

Meta has appointed CRED founder Kunal Shah as global head of WhatsApp, replacing Will Cathcart, who led the app for nearly seven years. Product chief Chris Cox picked Shah after canvassing entrepreneurs in WhatsApp strongholds like India. Meta also invested about $900 million in CRED for a ~20% stake, valuing the fintech at $4.5 billion; Miten Sampat becomes interim CEO.
