China's Moonshot AI has released Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model it bills as the largest open-weight system yet, activating about 50 billion parameters per token with a one-million-token context window. In independent benchmarks it trails only Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 while topping several coding and agentic tests. It is live now via Kimi's apps and API, with full weights due by July 27.
