OpenAI has rolled out GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini, full-duplex voice models that let ChatGPT listen and speak simultaneously rather than waiting for pauses, replacing Advanced Voice Mode globally on iOS, Android, and the web. The models backchannel with cues like 'mhmm,' stay quiet while users think, and delegate harder questions to GPT-5.5 in the background. Testers preferred GPT-Live-1 over the old mode 75.7% of the time.
