The Bank of Japan voted 7-2 to raise its overnight call rate target to around 1.25 percent, the highest since 1995. The deposit facility rate moves to 1.25 percent and the basic loan rate to 1.5 percent, both effective September 24. The board flagged a risk that underlying inflation overshoots its 2 percent goal and signalled it will keep lifting rates.
