OpenAI has upgraded its image generator to ChatGPT Images 2.5, promising sharper detail and better retention of subjects from reference photos. Latency falls up to 50% versus the previous version, and users can now steer edits with sketches or by pointing at a region. Two API variants ship: Sunburst for editing precision, Flare for speed. OpenAI holds the top three spots on Arena AI's text-to-image leaderboard.
